Khao Lak is located just 90 minutes from Phuket. It is one of the most beautiful and tranquil sites in all of Thailand.
Arriving in Khao Lak, after the "mountain", you discover the bay, which offers a magnificent panorama. It is located between the white sand beaches on the Emerald Andaman Sea and is bordered by palm trees, ancient trees, rubber plantations that progress towards the jungle of Khao Lak Lamru National Park.
No less than 7 national parks are located around this protected region. Splendid mountainous and wild forrests flow on the coasts where long empty beaches go to infinity. Discover the mangrove ecosystem, snorkel or scuba dive among the corals around the islands, elephant trekking, rafting down the river or on foot through the oldest rainforest on earth.
Khao Lak is in full tourist evolution but the authorities have chosen to turn to family tourism, clean.
There are about fifteen large resorts and numerous construction projects, but all of them respect nature and the environment, in order to preserve the balance in the middle of the vegetation. There will be no tall buildings spoiling the view, as the construction height limit is 2 or 3 floors depending on the location.
We live between the white sand beaches (the most beautiful in Thailand) and the jungle.
No insecurity, public violence such as fights, thefts, or burglaries, you can go out wherever you want and at any time without worrying about your safety.
We don't have prostitution tourism like in Phuket.
We don't have the category of tourist who only thinks about drinking or taking drugs.
Small town where everyone knows each other.
We are far from traffic, traffic jams or crowds on the beaches and in the shops, far from noise, pollution and bad smells.
We are far enough from Phuket not to have its negative sides but close enough to be able to pop in and do some shopping, night outings, take advantage of certain shops at bargain prices, hospitals with an international reputation, and do from time to time a walkabout. But very quickly we return to appreciate the calm of Khao Lak.
We are on the mainland so life is much cheaper than on islands like Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, and Phi Phi. The rainy season is less rainy than on these islands.
Land prices are still cheap at the moment, but these will quickly rise. Logic of a station that is booming.
Motorized nautical activities are prohibited as well as anything that could harm nature.
But on the other hand, there are a lot of excursions used to discover the jungle, the lakes, the rivers, the different islands like Similan, Surin, Koh Tachai, which is a real paradise for divers and snorkelers. Green tourism is particularly developed in Khao Lak, and will delight lovers of nature, calm and tranquility.
It is also its local market, with its fish, its fresh fruit... coming directly from the producer and guaranteeing attractive prices and quality.
